'Gentle Park' fined for increasing clothing prices using double stickers in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined a clothing outlet named 'Gentle Park' for artificially increasing prices by using double stickers at the Singapore Bangkok Market in the Agrabad area of the city.

The store was fined Tk 50,000 during a market monitoring drive conducted on Monday afternoon by the Chattogram Divisional and District Offices of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection with support from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

During the operation, another company named 'Shailpik' was fined Tk 30,000 for selling clothes produced by another manufacturer under its own brand name.

In addition, 'Inter Link Cosmetics' and 'RB Collection' were each fined Tk 5,000 for selling banned and unauthorized cosmetic products.

The drive was led by Deputy Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Mohammad Faiz Ullah. Assistant Directors Md. Anisur Rahman, Mahmuda Akhter and Rana Debnath also took part in the operation.

Faiz Ullah said such market monitoring drives will continue in the future to protect consumer rights and ensure fair trade practices.
