1,000 beneficiaries to receive Family Cards in first phase in Khulna tomorrow

KHULNA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - As part of the government's electoral pledge to provide a 'Family Card' to households, the first phase of the programme will begin tomorrow in Khulna city, with 1,000 beneficiaries set to receive the cards in Ward No. 10 under Khalishpur.

The inauguration ceremony of the distribution programme will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday at the premises of Khulna Khalishpur Haji Shariat Ullah Bidyapeeth.

Jatiya Sangsad Whip Rokibul Islam Bakul will attend the event as the chief guest, while Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju will be present as the special guest.

Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services in Khulna Kaniz Mostafa said a household survey under the pilot programme began last Friday and concluded on Monday to identify eligible beneficiaries.

She said a total of 8,007 beneficiaries were initially listed and their names were sent to Dhaka for verification. So far, 4,158 Family Cards have reached Khulna.

Of these, 1,000 cards will be distributed tomorrow, while the remaining cards will be handed over to the beneficiaries in phases, she added.
