KHULNA, Mar 9, 2026 (BSS) - The main congregation of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr in Khulna will be held at Circuit House Ground at 8:00 am.

The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting held at noon today at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner with Deputy Commissioner A. S. M. Jamshad Khondkar in the chair to ensure that the festival is celebrated with due dignity and festivity.

According to the meeting, Eid congregations will also be held at Khulna Town Jame Mosque at 9:00 am and 10:00 am.

In case of inclement weather, the main congregation will be shifted to Khulna Town Jame Mosque at 8:00 am. Another Eid congregation will be held at the Model Mosque of Khulna Alia Madrasa at 8:30 am.

Besides, separate Eid congregations will be arranged in every ward of the city under the supervision of ward-designated officials and managed by the Khulna City Corporation.

On the Eid day, national flags will be hoisted at all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings. Important places and road islands in the city will also be decorated with national flags and banners bearing the greeting "Eid Mubarak".

To ensure smooth travel for people returning home during the Eid holidays by road and waterways, law enforcement agencies will intensify their patrol activities.

Improved meals will be served on Eid day at government hospitals, orphanages, government children's homes, prisons, vagrant welfare centres and destitute welfare centres.

Local newspapers will publish special Eid supplements on the occasion through their own arrangements.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that, like previous years, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Khulna in a festive and colourful manner.

"Eid is a religious occasion, so the festival should be observed with joy while maintaining religious solemnity," he said.

He also urged guardians to prevent children from setting off firecrackers and fireworks on the night before Eid.
