DMP files 1,123 cases for traffic law violations

DHAKA, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,123 cases against traffic law violators in different areas of the capital during a special drive.

According to a DMP press release, a total of 100 cases were filed in the Traffic-Ramna division against four buses, seven covered vans, 11 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 36 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Lalbagh division, 94 cases were filed against one bus, 10 trucks, three covered vans, six CNGs and 46 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Motijheel division, 61 cases were filed against four buses, three covered vans, eight CNGs and 34 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, 147 cases were filed in the Traffic-Wari division against 28 buses, 27 trucks, 24 covered vans, 11 CNGs and 34 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Tejgaon division, 113 cases were filed against eight buses, six trucks, 10 covered vans, eight CNGs and 52 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Mirpur division, 156 cases were filed against 10 buses, nine trucks, 11 covered vans, 22 CNGs and 86 motorcycles.

In addition, 237 cases were filed in the Traffic-Uttara division against 27 buses, 12 trucks, 11 covered vans, 43 CNGs and 78 motorcycles, while 215 cases were filed in the Traffic-Gulshan division against 11 buses, two trucks, 10 covered vans, 17 CNGs and 90 motorcycles.

During the drive, a total of 392 vehicles were dumped and 252 vehicles were wrecked for violating traffic rules.

The operations were conducted by the Traffic Division of the DMP in different parts of the capital on Monday (March 9).

The DMP’s Traffic Division said such drives will continue in the Dhaka metropolitan area to ensure traffic discipline and road safety.
