President calls for joint efforts to build universal integrated health protection system

DHAKA, April 6, 2026 (BSS) - President Mohammed Shahabuddin today called upon all stakeholders, including government and private doctors, researchers, environmentalists, livestock experts, to work together to build a universal integrated health protection system.

“I believe that a successful implementation of the programmes undertaken, intensive attention and appropriate investment will soon bring a result in significant improvements in overall health care and indicators,” the head of the state said in a message on the occasion of tomorrow’s ‘World Health Day.

Wishing for a successful completion of all programmes undertaken on the occasion of 'World Health Day 2026', being observed with this year’s theme ‘Together for Health, Stand with Science’, the President said the health of humans, animals and the environment match each other.

Due to various negative aspects of modern civilization, the harmful effects on the plants, animal and environment of the world, namely ‘One Health’, are continuously increasing, the President mentioned in the message.

“Therefore, it is our moral responsibility to ensure an integrated health protection system by utilizing the excellence of science,” President Shahabuddin added.
Calling the access to health care is one of the fundamental rights of humans, the President said in the light of the policy of ‘Health for All’, the incumbent government is committed to ensuring universal health protection and access to health care with respect and dignity for every citizen.

In the light of this policy, he said an initiative has already been taken to provide electronic health (e-health) cards to all citizens to build a basic identity infrastructure for patients.

Besides, to increasing the allocation to the health sector, plans are being formulated and implemented to ensure free quality primary health care, complete health care for mothers and children, strengthen disease prevention and health awareness activities, and build a corruption-free health sector, he added.
