DU to host first-ever underwater photography workshop

DHAKA, May 9, 2026 (BSS)- University of Dhaka is set to host its first-ever workshop on underwater scuba diving and underwater photography on May 13.

The unique workshop will be held from 9:00am to 1:30pm at the university's Physical Education Centre swimming pool.

The event is being organized by the Television, Film and Photography (TFP) Department of the university with technical support from Creative Wings and in association with the TFP Photography Club.

Organizers said no university or educational institution in Bangladesh has previously arranged such a workshop on underwater filming and scuba diving.

Titled "Underwater Photography and Scuba Diving: Career Pathways and Practical Underwater Filming Experience," the workshop will consist of two segments.

The first segment will feature theoretical discussions on underwater photography, the basics of scuba diving and career opportunities in the field, conducted by experts from Creative Wings.

The second segment will provide hands-on underwater filming and scuba diving training.

A total of 100 students will be able to participate in the workshop. Of them, 80 students will attend the theoretical and observation sessions, while 20 students will receive hands-on scuba diving and underwater photography training. Participants in both categories will receive certificates.

Applicants for the practical training session must know how to swim.
