DHAKA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - The government has approved the import of various petroleum products to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country during the June-August 2026 period.

The approvals were granted at the 26th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) held at the Bangladesh Secretariat today, with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

According to officials, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division placed four separate procurement proposals before the committee for the import of Gas Oil, Jet A-1 fuel, Furnace Oil and Octane through international open tenders.

Under the approved proposals, Singapore-based Unipec Singapore Pte. Ltd. will supply Gas Oil 0.005 per cent sulphur and Jet A-1 fuel under the package-1 at an estimated cost of Tk 7,672.664 crore.

Another package for the supply of the same categories of fuel, package-2, was awarded to Vitol Asia Pte Ltd. at an estimated cost of Tk 6,711.751 crore.

The committee also approved the import of Furnace Oil under the package-3 from Trafigura Pte. Ltd. at a cost of Tk 1,900.047 crore.

In addition, Vitol Asia Pte Ltd. was selected to supply Gasoline 95 (Octane) under the package-4 at an estimated cost of Tk 748.961 crore.

Officials said the procurement of diesel and aviation fuel from two separate suppliers would help diversify the supply chain and reduce risks associated with disruptions in fuel imports.

The imports are intended to meet growing domestic demand and maintain stability in the country's energy market.
