BTV to telecast FIFA World Cup 2026

DHAKA, June 9, 2026 (BSS) — The government has made an arrangement to telecast the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside several other partners through Bangladesh Television (BTV), Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon said here.

In a statement issued here today, the minister said the ministry would shortly provide official details to media outlets regarding the broadcasting arrangement.

"I am very happy to inform the countrymen that BTV will broadcast the World Cup 2026 along with some other partners," the minister told the national news agency BSS.

Currently on an official visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese government, the minister expressed gratitude to media organizations and ministry officials who contributed to the process.

"I would like to thank all the media outlets, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and all the officials of our ministry who are directly or indirectly involved in this process," he said.

The minister also credited the achievement to the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and hoped that all World Cup matches could be broadcast without spending public funds.

"We have achieved this success under the wise guidance of our leader Mr. Tarique Rahman. I hope that we will be able to broadcast all the games of the World Cup without spending any public money," he added.

Further details regarding the broadcasting rights and partnership arrangements are expected to be announced by the ministry later today.
