DHAKA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - A month-long tree plantation programme has been launched at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) campus in observance of the martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam).

The programme, organized by the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, was inaugurated on today by SAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Abdul Latif.

SAU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Belal Hossain, Treasurer and Dean Professor Md. Abul Bashar, General Secretary of the concerned department Professor Dr. Nur Mohammad Akter Banu, and teachers of the university were present on the occasion.

After the plantation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor addressed the participants. He highlighted the importance of tree plantation in maintaining
environmental balance, addressing the adverse impacts of climate change, and promoting nationwide greening efforts.

He urged everyone to take initiative in tree plantation from their respective positions and stressed the need for greater awareness in environmental conservation.

"If every individual takes part in tree plantation from their own place, significant positive change can be achieved in environmental protection," he said.

Under the month-long programme, various species of trees will be planted at different locations across the university campus.
