Dr Alamgir elected president, Dr Imtiaz general secy of BCPS

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Dr. Mowdud Hossain Alamgir and Dr. Imtiaz Faruk have been elected President and General Secretary respectively of the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS), a press release said here today.

All the candidates for the positions in the Executive Committee (EC) were elected unopposed. The newly elected committee will serve for the next two years after assuming its office.

The Election Commission of the BCPS formally announced the results yesterday. The information was confirmed in a notification signed by Election Commissioner Professor Kohinoor Begum.

According to the notification, Dr. Nuruddin Ahmad and Dr. Lutful Aziz were elected as Senior Vice-Presidents, Dr. Sehrin Farhad Siddika as Treasurer and Dr. Imtiaz Faruk as Secretary. Dr. Kazi Din Mohammad was elected as Member (1) of the Executive Committee.

The BCPS Election Commission stated that no nomination papers were submitted for the position of Member (2). In accordance with the rules, a fresh election will be held for the vacant post at a later date.
