87 fresh dengue cases detected overnight

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 87 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.

“We recorded 87 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in 24 hours ending at 8 am today,” a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

“Out of the 87 fresh cases, 35 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 15 in Chattogram division, 13 in Dhaka division, one in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), eight in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), two in Mymensingh division, one in Rajshahi division, three in Sylhet division and nine in Khulna division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year claimed seven lives and inflicted 4,499 people.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
