DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Canadian Indo-Pacific Agriculture and Agri-Food Office (IPAAO) Executive Director Diedrah Kelly today met Agriculture Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid at the latter's office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

Both parties discussed agriculture, livestock, climate-smart adaptation and other issues of mutual interest at the meeting.

Aminur Rashid said Canada is a long-standing friend of Bangladesh and has always stood by the country's development efforts.

He expressed hope that Canada would continue its support in the future.

"The government is planning to expand exports of agricultural products on a large scale," he said, noting Bangladesh's interest in exporting various native fruits to Canada.

Kelly also expressed Canada's interest in exporting canola oilseeds produced in Canada to Bangladesh and provide scientific and technical cooperation in Bangladesh's agriculture and dairy sectors.

Referring to the specialized technologies of various Canadian institutions in dehydrated fruits, processed fruits and frozen fruits, Diedrah Kelly suggested Bangladesh to adopt these technologies.

Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh and senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture were present at the meeting.
