CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, July 2 (BSS) - Joint General Secretary of the Chittagong University (CU) Chhatra Dal and Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) Ayobur Rahman Tawfick urged the university administration and the government to establish a specialized hospital on the CU campus.

He said, “Our CU Medical Centre lacks specialist doctors and an adequate supply of essential medicines. On behalf of CUCSU, I urge the university administration and the government to establish a well-equipped hospital on our campus where students can receive all kinds of medical services.”

Tawfick made the demand while speaking to journalists following the inauguration of a day-long free medical camp organized by CUCSU in collaboration with Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital at the university’s Buddhijibi Chattar around 12:00 pm today (Thursday).

He added, “I believe ensuring quality healthcare for students is essential for delivering better public services. This free medical camp organized by CUCSU is only a one-day initiative. What we need is a long-term solution. To ensure advanced healthcare services for our students, I demand the establishment of a specialized hospital on the campus.”

The free medical camp was inaugurated by Managing Director of Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital Limited, Dr. A. K. M. Fazlul Haque. The programme was chaired by CUCSU Vice President (VP) Md Ibrahim Hossen Roni and jointly moderated by Female Student Welfare Secretary Nahima Akter Dipa and Deputy Female Student Welfare Secretary Jannatul Ferdause Rita.

Among the special guests were Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Dr. Md. Safiqul Islam and Board of Directors member of Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital Limited Amena Shaheen.
