KHULNA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) - Member of Parliament for Khulna-5, Ali Asgar Lobby, on Wednesday directed law enforcement agencies to intensify action against drug trafficking and abuse, declaring that no drug dealers or users would be allowed to operate in Dumuria and Fultala.

Speaking as the chief guest at the monthly law and order committee meeting at the Dumuria Upazila Parishad auditorium, the MP said there would be no compromise in maintaining law and order. He described drug abuse as a serious threat that is destroying the country's youth and undermining society.

"The current situation cannot continue. The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, and it must be enforced," he said, adding that a drug-free society is possible if the administration acts sincerely.

Ali Asgar Lobby also asserted that he had no involvement in protecting or profiting from the drug trade, stressing that drugs must be eradicated from the area.

The meeting was chaired by Dumuria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabita Sarkar and attended by the Assistant Commissioner (Land), the Officer-in-Charge of Dumuria Police Station, Upazila Parishad officials, BNP leaders and other local representatives.

The MP reaffirmed the government's commitment to development-focused politics. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts, effective planning and practical projects to ensure sustainable development in the upazila, and urged people across political divides to work together for the area's overall progress.
