DHAKA, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested 516 crime suspects during routine drives conducted across various parts of the capital over the last 24 hours.

According to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) statement, 40 criminal cases were filed during the same period.

The statement said Ramna Division police arrested 35, 30 by Lalbagh Division, 46 by Wari Division, 96 by Motijheel Division, 79 by Tejgaon Division, 115 by Mirpur Division, 51 by Gulshan Division, 51 by Uttara Division, 12 by the detective branch (DB) and one by the Counter Terrorism & Transnational Crime (CTTC), DMP. 

During the drive, 2,231 pieces of yaba tablets, 11 kg of marijuana, six mobile phone sets, two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, six rounds of bullet and cash of Tk 10,150 were recovered.

Police also confirmed the rescue of two victims during the operations.

The highest number of arrests was made in Mirpur Division, where 115 people were detained. 

Legal proceedings against those detained are underway, DMP said.
