RAJSHAHI, Aug 1, 2026 (BSS)- Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, today said that the medical profession is highly prestigious and noble . 

“Obtaining a certificate is not the end; doctors must win the hearts of patients through amiable behaviour and humane conduct,” he added. 

The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the oath-taking and orientation ceremony of the 62nd MBBS batch of intern doctors at the Dr. Kaishar Rahman Chowdhury Auditorium of Rajshahi Medical College (RMC). 

Congratulating the young doctors, the chief guest said, the oath you have taken today in the name of the Almighty should be reflected in your professional life through honesty, dedication and patriotism. 

He called upon everyone to dedicate themselves to the service of helpless people and to uphold the honour of this institution. 

Recalling the glorious heritage of Rajshahi Medical College, he said that the meritorious students of this institution are working with reputation at home and abroad. 

Highlighting the government's plan for the development of  the health sector in Rajshahi, the chief guest said that the present democratic government is working tirelessly to deliver healthcare to people's doorsteps. 

He announced that a Dental Medical College and a state-of-the-art specialized hospital with the cooperation of the Chinese government will be built in Rajshahi. 

He also pledged to complete the unfinished work of the 12-storey hospital and to fully operationalise the Children's Hospital. 

The program was presided over by the Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Brigadier General P K M Masud Ul Islam. 

Special guests present were chest disease specialist Dr. Wasim Hossain, public health disease specialist Professor Dr. Mofakharul Islam, Principal of Rajshahi Medical College Professor Dr. Khandaker Faisal Alam and Vice-Principal Professor Dr. Zahirul Haque. 

Among others, officials and employees of government and private offices, doctors, teachers, new doctors, guardians and local leaders and media personnel were present at the event. 
Earlier, 216 intern doctors took the oath.
