CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan today said policy formulation on Artificial Intelligence (AI) use responsibly and ethically is the need of the hour.

"There is no scope to stop the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Rather, it is now imperative to formulate clear guidelines on how teachers, students and researchers can use this technology responsibly and ethically," said Prof Forkan.

The Vice-Chancellor made the remarks as the chief guest at an event titled 'AI for All', held at university's Faculty of Business Administration auditorium. 

The program was organized by 'Send a Little Hope' in collaboration with the CU Office for International Affairs.

Prof Forkan said, "AI technology is opening up new possibilities in various fields, including the judicial system, healthcare, climate change research, traffic management, marine research and data analysis. 

New AI tools are being introduced into various academic activities on a regular basis.

Therefore, it is extremely important to formulate policies to determine the limits, ethics and acceptability of AI use."

He said, "AI is one of the most important and timely issues in the present world. It is not merely an issue for discussion in Bangladesh or at CU. Rather, it is a global reality for the education, research, administration and technology sectors worldwide. 

The use of AI is rapidly expanding in the developed world and it is emerging as one of the key driving forces behind future development and innovation."

Speaking as a special guest, CU Pro-VC (Education) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin said, "AI, control systems and robotics are interconnected. In the technology-driven world of tomorrow, this integrated knowledge will be the main driving force behind development and innovation."

The program was chaired by CU Office for International Affairs Director Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahab Uddin and moderated by AI Navigator and AI Confidence Communication Officer Su-Prova Islam.
