DHAKA, Aug 05, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET) today observed 'July Mass Uprising Day 2026' through a series of commemorative programmes.
Vice Chancellor of the university Brigadier General S M Lutfor Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest, said a press release received here.
Speaking on the occasion, Lutfor Rahman said, "We must all carry out our respective responsibilities with dedication and sincerity from our own positions. It is essential to preserve the significant history of the sacrifices made by the July fighters and martyrs for future generations. I hope the initiatives undertaken by the present government will be implemented effectively and achieve their intended objectives."
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls of those martyred in the July Anti-Discrimination Movement and wished a speedy recovery for those who were injured.
Among others, BAUET Treasurer Colonel Md. Shawkat Hossain (Retd.), Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities and the Faculty of Law Professor Dr Md Sazzad Hossain, Assistant Professor of the Department of Business Administration Sheikh Taufiqul Islam, Department of Law and Justice student Sarwar Rahman, and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) student Sadia Islam Tisha addressed the event.
Colonel Hla Han Maung (Retd.), Controller of Examinations; Professor Mohammad Golam Sarwar Bhuyan, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE); Major Md. Monjinul Mubin (Retd.), Acting Registrar; heads of departments, the Proctor, the Student Welfare Advisor, officers, staff members, and student representatives from all departments were present.
After Zohor prayer, a special dua was offered at the university's Central Jame Mosque, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the July martyrs, good health and well-being for the July fighters, and peace, prosperity and continued progress for the nation.
