DINAJPUR, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today said the people had overthrown fascism and established a democratic, elected government through their votes.

Speaking at a discussion marking July Uprising Day at Ekattor Chattar of Nawabganj Upazila Parishad in Dinajpur, Dr Zahid said the BNP had formed the government after securing the highest number of seats despite repeated conspiracies.

"Set aside conspiracies and wait for the next election. Try to understand the people's verdict," he said.

Paying tribute to the July uprising martyrs and injured participants, Dr Zahid prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs and said the government would continue providing support to those injured during the movement.

He also said the government was implementing development projects across the country and would continue its development activities despite criticism.

"We are carrying out development work at all levels across the country. It may not please everyone, but we will continue working for the people, Insha'Allah," he said.
