HABIGANJ, Aug 8, 2026 (BSS) - Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury today said the current government is sincerely working for the welfare of workers.

"Facilities for the laborers and workers have been increased compared to the past. The government is sincerely working for the welfare of the workers," he said 

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a special law and order-related meeting at the circuit house here this afternoon.

Habiganj Deputy Commissioner GM Sarfaraz presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, he said the election of tea garden workers would be held soon and the government would take necessary measures in this regard and conspiracy against tea workers would be dealt strictly.

Lawmaker Alhaj GK Gaus, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Md Mashiur Rahman, DIG of Sylhet Range Dr Zillur Rahman, Commander of Habiganj 55 Battalion Lt Col Tanzilur Rahman and Habiganj Superintendent of Police Tarek Mahmud, along with heads of different government offices, addressed the meeting.
