DINAJPUR, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today said no citizen would be deprived of healthcare due to financial constraints, assuring that the government would provide financial assistance to those unable to afford medical treatment.

He made the remarks while addressing a workers' conference of Hakimpur upazila BNP as the chief guest at the Boaldar Union Parishad field in Hakimpur upazila.

Dr Zahid said he had come to the grassroots to listen to people's concerns, recalling that voters elected him to parliament with the BNP's paddy sheaf symbol and gave him the opportunity to serve as a minister.

He said BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had instructed party leaders to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots, including in neighbourhoods and every ward across the country.

"Eligible people should be brought into the party as BNP activists. BNP is not a party that moves forward alone," he said.

The minister urged party leaders and activists to uphold the image of the BNP through tolerant and responsible behaviour.

He also called upon party activists to identify poor children in villages and rural areas who are unable to attend school or continue their studies due to financial hardship.

"The government will provide financial assistance to them so that they can continue their education and become competent citizens of the country," he said.

Dr Zahid further assured that government assistance would be provided to sick and financially disadvantaged patients to help them receive necessary medical treatment.

Hakimpur Upazila BNP President Firdous Rahman presided over the conference.

Dinajpur District Council Administrator and District BNP President Advocate Md Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, Senior Vice-President Md Mokaram Hossain, Vice-President Atikur Rahman Raja Master and Hakimpur Upazila BNP General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain, among others, addressed the conference.

Leaders and activists of the district, upazila and union units of BNP and its affiliated organisations attended the programme.
