CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan has called on the university's students to dedicate their youth to building good character.

He made the call while speaking as chief guest at a Milad Mahfil organized at the university's Central Jame Mosque this evening after Maghrib prayers to mark the holy occasion of Eid-E-Miladunnabi (PBUH).

"Let us dedicate this period of our youth to building good character. Because the Prophet (PBUH) possessed the best character. He is the best role model for us," said the Vice-Chancellor.

He further said, "No matter how learned you are, if your character is not good, if your knowledge is not put to use for the welfare of humanity, then your education and knowledge hold no value."

Central Jame Mosque management committee President Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus presided over the function. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (academic) Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin was present as special guest.

He said, "Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) was, throughout his entire life, the most trustworthy and truthful of people. Allah has given us such a messenger as a mercy for us. We must make our generation understand that truth lies within this."

The keynote speaker at the Mahfil was Professor Dr. Mohammad Gias Uddin Talukder of the CU Arabic Department.

He said, "It is essential that we hold love and devotion for the Prophet (PBUH). We will continue to hold gatherings, seminars, discussions and Mahfils marking Eid-E-Miladunnabi (PBUH) in society. Alongside, we will strive to uphold the Prophet's Sunnah, Insha-Allah."

Hafez Abu Dawud Muhammad Mamun, chief imam of the Central Jame Mosque, among others, spoke at the event.

At the event, prizes were distributed to the winners of a cultural and essay-writing competition held earlier to mark the holy occasion of Eid-E-Miladunnabi (PBUH).
