Anee seeks continued Dutch cooperation in water sector

DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) – Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee today said the Netherlands has been making significant contributions to Bangladesh’s socio-economic development since independence, urging the Dutch government to continue its cooperation in sustainable water management, riverbank protection, climate change adaptation, and human resource development.

He made the remarks when Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Joris Van Bommel called on him at his office at the ministry, said a PID release.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest.

The ambassador noted that Bangladesh and the Netherlands share geographical similarities and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the Delta Plan, tackling climate change risks, sustainable river management, and human resource development.

Water Resources Secretary Dr. A. K. M Shahabuddin and First Secretary (Water and Climate) of the Netherlands Embassy Inge Klaasen were present on the occasion.
