DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on Awami League presidium member and former minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and his wife Pervin Chowdhury over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC in its plea said the former minister has allegedly amassed huge illegal wealth in his and his family members' names by taking commissions from local contractors, selling party posts and nominations, embezzling government funds and laundered the money abroad.

"The commission has already formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. During its primary investigation, the committee found that Maya and his wife are trying to flee the country to evade justice. So, travel ban should be imposed on them," the ACC plea said.
