Former Jhenidah MP Apu arrested

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Jhenidah district Awami League president and former lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Apu from his residence in Dhanmondi tonight.

He was arrested around 9:30 pm in connection with three cases filed against him.

According to Jhenidah police sources, Apu had been absconding since August 5, 2024.
