Typhoid vaccination programme begins in DNCC

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS)- Month-long typhoid vaccination programme started in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area from today aimed at combating the drug-resistant threat.
 
About 12.94 lakh children up to five years in the DNCC area will get the vaccine free of cost under the government’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).  

 
Some 712 vaccinators and 972 volunteers will take part in the vaccination programme every day. Each team will have two vaccinators and three volunteers. 
 
Vaccination programme will continue from 8 am to 3:30 pm every day.
 
About 72 thousand children and students will be vaccinated against typhoid every day, according to the vaccination plan.
 
Vaccination in educational institutions will continue for 10 days from October 12 to 30. Vaccination will be provided at permanent EPI centers from October 13 to November 13 and at satellite/outreach EPI centers from November 01 to November 13.
 
Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar inaugurated the vaccination campaign at Dhaka Residential Model College this morning.

A monitoring cell at the Nagar Bhaban and a vigilance team at the field level will coordinate the vaccination programme.
