DHAKA, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 today scrapped a petition of former Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, pleading to review its order that indicted him for alleged crimes against humanity committed during the July Mass Uprising.

The two-member tribunal rejected Inu's plea, where he had termed the July "so-called uprising".

After the tribunal's order, ICT Prosecutor Abdus Subhan Tarafdar submitted an opening statement in the case. At the end of today's proceedings, the second tribunal adjourned the hearing till tomorrow, when the prosecution witnesses are scheduled to start testifying in the case.

The ICT-2 on November 2 indicted Hasanul Haque Inu, framing eight specific charges of crimes against humanity against him.

The charges include having command responsibility for committing horrific crimes during the July-August Mass Uprising, and involvement in the killing of six people in Kushtia, against Inu.

The prosecution, on October 23, submitted its arguments for framing charges against the former minister and pleaded for his indictment. The second tribunal on September 25, 2025, took cognizance of the formal charge filed against Inu.
