CUMILLA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian goods worth Taka 3.5 crore during a week-long series of operations along the Cumilla and Brahmanbaria borders, officials said on Monday.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ziaur Rahman, commander of the Sultanpur Battalion (BGB-60) under the Cumilla sector, the seizures were made between December 1 and December 7 as part of intensified surveillance and coordinated anti-smuggling drives.

BGB teams conducted operations in the border areas of Adarsh Sadar, Brahmanpara, and Burichang in Comilla district, as well as Akhaura and Kasba in Brahmanbaria, acting on combing operations and intelligence reports.

During the week-long clampdown, BGB recovered a large consignment of Indian goods, including sarees, blankets, shawls, cosmetics, medicines, fireworks, cows, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, pickup vans, and various food products.

Among the notable seizures were Indian sarees valued at approximately Taka 93 lakh and Indian food items worth around Taka 1.80 crore.
The confiscated narcotics included foreign liquor, marijuana, and syrup, officials added.

Lieutenant Colonel Rahman reaffirmed BGB’s commitment to curbing cross-border smuggling, stating: “Regular operations are being conducted to prevent illegal smuggling, and this activity will be further strengthened in the coming days.”
The seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action.
