BLDP chairman joins BNP after dissolving his party

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party (BLDP) Chairman Shahadat Hossain Selim has joined BNP after dissolving his party.

He officially joined BNP during a ceremony held at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan in the city this evening.

BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury along with others party activists was present at the joining ceremony. 

Shahadat Hossain Selim confirmed the matter, saying, "I have dissolved our party and joined the BNP."

On November 27, BNP had announced that Shahadat Hossain Selim would contest the upcoming 13th national parliament election from the Lakshmipur-1 (Ramganj) constituency, with BNP's electoral symbol ‘Dhaner Shish’.

BNP Organizing Secretary for the Chattogram division Mahbubur Rahman Shamim informed the media of this decision citing BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Mahbubur Rahman said, "As the spokesperson for the 12-Party Alliance Shahadat was actively involved in the every democratic movement of BNP in the past. Considering that, he had already been given the 'green signal' from the BNP."
