
DHAKA, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here has ordered to freeze eight bank accounts of prime accused Faisal Karim Masud alias Daud, 37, and his associates in a case over the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent candidate in the 13th National Election and convener of the Inqilab Mancha.
The order was issued on Sunday by Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, vacation judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court, following an application by the investigating officer of the case.
The investigating officer (IO) of the case Inspector Faisal Ahmed of the Detective Branch (DB) of police today confirmed the mews to BSS.
On December 12, at about 2:20 pm, miscreants shot at Hadi with firearms on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station and fled the scene. In connection with the incident, on December 14, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inqilab Mancha, filed a case at Paltan Police Station on charges of attempted murder. The case was filed under sections 120(B)/326/307/109/34 of the Penal Code.
Later, on December 20, following an application by the IO, Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad ordered to add section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code to the case.
According to the allegations in the case, on 12 December at about 2:20 pm, after finishing campaign following Friday prayers at Motijheel Mosque and while heading towards Suhrawardy Udyan, Hadi was followed from behind on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station by the accused Faisal Karim Masud alias Daud and an unidentified accomplice on a motorcycle. With the intention to kill, they shot Hadi with firearms while he was moving and then fled the scene.
The injured Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later admitted to Evercare Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was airlifted by air ambulance to Singapore and admitted to Singapore General Hospital. Subsequently, on December 18 at 9:45 pm, he died while undergoing treatment.
