
KUSHTIA, Dec 25, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized drugs
and contraband goods worth about Taka 29 lakh in a series of operations
conducted in different border and urban areas of the district.
The recoveries were confirmed in a press release issued on Thursday afternoon
by Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commander of BGB Battalion-47 in
Kushtia.
According to the release, BGB members seized 7,000 pieces of yaba tablets
during a search of a Meherpur-to-Kushtia-bound bus at Mirpur bus stand area
on Thursday noon. The estimated value of the recovered yaba tablets is Taka
21 lakh.
In another operation, based on specific intelligence, BGB conducted a special
drive around noon on December 24 in Lalon Chattar area of the district town's
bypass, where 4,000 packets of illegal fake bidis were recovered.
On the same day, BGB seized 30 bottles of Indian liquor, 700 pieces of
sildenafil tablets and 1,140 pieces of chocolate fireworks from the
Borderpara area under the jurisdiction of Kazipur BOP. Additionally, another
30 bottles of Indian liquor and 500 pieces of sildenafil tablets were
recovered from the Dharmadah border area at around 10:00 am.
Later at about 12:30 pm, BGB members recovered 177 bottles of Indian syrup
from the Char Mathpara area under Charchilmari BOP.
BGB officials said the total estimated value of all seized narcotics and
smuggled goods stands at Taka 29,09,300.
