Travel ban imposed on Delta Group chairman Faruque, wife

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today imposed a travel ban on Delta Group chairman A K M Faruque Ahamed and his wife Ferdaus Ara Begum over graft allegations.
  
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
  
The anti-graft body in its plea stated that allegations against A K M Faruque Ahamed are under investigation for taking loans worth Taka 2,250 crore from various banks, laundering money abroad through over-invoicing and fake letters of credit (LCs), and acquiring illegal assets.
  
During the inquiry, it was learned from reliable sources that the persons concerned in the allegations may flee the country. Therefore, in the interest of a proper investigation of the allegations, it is necessary to impose a ban on their foreign travel, the ACC plea added.
