BCS Information Association holds memorial meeting for Munshi Jalal Uddin

DHAKA, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) –A memorial meeting and doa-mahfil were held today in memory of late Munshi Jalal Uddin, an 18th batch officer of the BCS (Information–General) Cadre and former Additional Principal Information Officer of Press Information Department (PID).

The BCS Information Association organised the programme at the auditorium of the Tothyo Bhaban in the capital.

Principal Information Officer Md. Nizamul Kabir attended the programme as the chief guest.

He said Munshi Jalal Uddin was a rare blend of merit, wisdom, intellect and sound judgement. 

He set exemplary standards of professional competence, humanity and generosity, he added.

Highlighting his dedication, sincerity and sense of responsibility, Nizamul Kabir said Munshi Jalal was an exceptional personality and urged all to not only remember him but also follow his ideals.

The memorial meeting was chaired by President of the Association Abul Kalam Mohammad Shamsuddin and conducted by its Secretary General Md Mamun ur Rashid.

Former Director General of the Mass Communication Department Faizul Haque, Director General of the Mass Communication Department Md Abdul Jalil, Director General of the Department of Films and Publications Khaleda Begum also spoke at the meeting, among others.

Munshi Jalal Uddin passed away on January 7 while undergoing treatment at LABAID Cancer Hospital at the age of 53.
