
DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Jatiya Party Secretary General and former lawmaker Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga and former MP Panir Uddin Ahmed on charges of exchange of bribes among themselves, ACC officials said today.
ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain in a media briefing said Ranga was accused of accepting Taka Tk.1.70 crore as bribe from Ahmed as bribe for his parliamentary nomination from the party.
Ahmed, a former MP from Kurigram 2 constituency, was accused of bribing Ranga as the two were not in a business relationship.
“The money was transacted through bank accounts at different times,” The ACC official said adding the transactions were made through Sonali Bank and Islami Bank.
ACC also served a notice asking Ranga to submit his wealth statement under Section 26(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 to verify and sort out his assets.
The ACC said that through these activities, the accused committed offences under Sections 161, 165 and 109 of the Penal Code, Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947 and Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012.
