Two chicken traders killed in pickup-rickshaw van collision in Motijheel

DHAKA, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - Two chicken traders were killed in a collision between a pickup van and a chicken-laden rickshaw van in front of Bangabhaban in Motijheel in the capital early Today.

The accident took place at around 3:45 am at the area.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ripon , 45, son of Sakhawat Hossain from Nabinagar police station area of Sherpur district, and Mohammad Sultan Mia ,50, son of Jamshed Ali of Bepari Bari in Sherpur Sadar.

Mohammad Shahin, who brought the victims to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said that the chicken-laden van was taking a U-turn on the road in front of Bangabhaban when a speeding pickup van hit the rickshaw van. 

The two traders riding on the van were critically injured in the crash.

They were rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared both of them dead.

Inspector in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, Mohammad Farooq confirming the matter, said the bodies have been kept at the morgue of the hospital's emergency department.

He added that the matter has been informed to the concerned police station for further legal action.
