RAB arrests two with 12 firearms, 897 ammos in Sirajganj, Dhaka

DHAKA, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two 
alleged arms dealers, including a listed terrorist from Pabna, during 
separate operations in Sirajganj and the capital Dhaka. 

During the raids, RAB recovered 12 firearms, 897 rounds of ammunition and two 
private cars, according to a press release of the force.

Based on secret information, the intelligence branch of RAB Headquarters and 
an operational team of RAB-12 conducted a joint drive in the Salanga police 
station area of Sirajganj district. 

During the operation, they arrested Md. Rakib Rana, 55.

Law enforcement officials recovered four long rifles, five single-barrel 
guns, two 12-bore short guns with magazines and one pistol with two empty 
magazines from his possession. 

In addition, 298 rounds of rifle ammunition, 500 short-gun cartridges and 99 
pistol cartridges-- totaling 897 rounds-- were seized along with a private 
car.

Later, based on information obtained from the arrested Rakib, RAB conducted 
another raid in the Sheikh Tek area under Adabor Police Station in the 
capital and arrested Md. Alamgir Hossain, also known as "Shooter Alamgir", 
45, along with another private car.

RAB said Alamgir is known as an arms dealer and terrorist from Pabna 
district.

Police records show that Rakib Rana has three cases filed against him at 
Pabna Sadar Police Station, including charges of murder, cheating and cheque 
forgery. 

Meanwhile, Alamgir Hossain has five cases filed against him at the same 
police station, including cases related to weapons and murder.
