Six remanded over killing of Mohammadpur teen gang leader Emon

DHAKA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today placed six people on four-day remand each in a case filed over the killing of teenage gang leader Emon alias Alex Emon in the Mohammadpur area of the capital.

The accused are Sayed Hossain Shimul alias Aiub, 26; Md Tuhin Biswas, 24; Md Rabbi Kazi, 25; Md Rana, 40; Md Sumon, 26; and Md Russel alias Picchi Russel, 25.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and pleaded for a seven-day remand.

According to the case statement, Emon was hacked indiscriminately by members of a rival gang in the Banshbari area under Mohammadpur Police Station on April 12. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Emon’s mother, Ferdousi Begum, filed the case the following day with Mohammadpur Police Station, naming 21 accused and 10–12 unidentified others.
