
DHAKA, May 02, 2026 (BSS)- A Dhaka court today placed former DGFI director Afzal Naser on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Mahmudul Hasan in the Uttara area during July uprising.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded for another seven-day remand in this case.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah placed him on a four-day remand in the case on April 23, while the same court on April 27 placed him again on a two-day remand.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain on April 29 placed Naser on another three-day remand.
A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Afzal Naser from his residence in Mirpur DOHS on March 30, 2026.
According to the case documents, Mahmudul Hasan sustained bullet injuries during a student procession in the Azampur area of Uttara on August 5, 2024. He was taken to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, where he later died.
The murder case was filed with the Uttara East Police Station on September 26, 2024.
