Ex- information minister M Shamsul Islam’s death anniversary observed

MUNSHIGANJ, May 2, 2026 (BSS) - A memorial meeting was held today in the district to mark the 8th death anniversary of former Information Minister M Shamsul Islam. 

The event took place at Rampal College, where a number of distinguished guests gathered to pay tribute to the late leader’s legacy and his significant contributions to the development of the region.

Munshiganj-3 constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Md. Kamruzzaman Ratan was present at the meeting as the chief guest while Engineer Saiful Islam presided over it. Munshiganj District Council Administrator AKM Eradat Manu also participated at the event.

BNP-nominated MPs from reserved seats -- Momtaz Alo and Fahima Nasrin Munni -- as well as former general secretary of the BNP’s district committee Ali Azgar Ripon Mallik, were present, among others.

In his speech, Md. Kamruzzaman Ratan highlighted the ongoing dedication of BNP leaders and activists to fulfill the promises made by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, especially regarding the country's development and progress. He also paid special tribute to the immense role played by M Shamsul Islam in the foundation and growth of BNP in Munshiganj, saying that his contributions to the region’s advancement would be always remembered with due respect.

The event concluded with a collective reaffirmation of the community's dedication to continuing Shamsul Islam’s legacy of service and development in Munshiganj.
