DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026, (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two alleged drug traffickers along with 55,000 pieces of yaba tablets in two separate drives in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan disclosed the information this afternoon.

He said a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station, Teknaf, in the Naittongpara adjacent area of Teknaf last evening based on secret information. 

During the drive, Coast Guard personnel searched a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and arrested one alleged drug trafficker along with 20,000 pieces of yaba tablets worth about Taka 1 crore, one mobile phone and the CNG vehicle used for trafficking.

The seized items and the arrested alleged drug trafficker were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.

In another special operation conducted in the Keruntali area under Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar this morning, Coast Guard personnel searched a battery-run van and arrested one alleged drug trafficker along with 35,000 Yaba tablets worth about Taka 1.75 crore and the van used for trafficking.

The process of taking further legal action against the arrested alleged drug trafficker and the seized items is underway.

He also said the Coast Guard would continue such operations in the future to curb the spread of drugs.
