DHAKA, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 21 people during a special anti-crime drive in the Jatrabari area of the capital on Saturday.

Jatrabari police conducted the operation as part of efforts to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order in the area, a press release said.

The arrested individuals were identified as Zahidul Islam, 51; Md Omar Faruk, 38; Md Abdur Rahim, 35; Ratan Dewan, 30; Md Sajib, 19; Md Ramzan; Md Jafar; Md Sani; Delwar Hossain, 32; Md Raju, 28; Shariful Islam Mahim, 25; Shariful Islam, 32; Ahmed Dhruv, 32; Tanvir Ahmed, 19; Nayan, 25; Ab Salam, 27; Md Raju Islam, 23; Md Piar Ali, 19; Md Shahin, 20; Abdur Rahman Shuvo, 23; and Md Rafsan, 20.

Police said the detainees include accused persons involved in regular criminal cases and other offences.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.

Authorities added that similar operations will continue to keep the law-and-order situation under control in the capital.
