DHAKA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) is working to arrest those involved in the robbery of Taka 1.21 crore from DL Petrol Pump in Uttara on August 9.
Additional Police Commissioner (Detective) Md Shafiqul Islam in a press briefing at DMP Media Centre today said that investigators were examining several aspects of the case and were hopeful of apprehending the suspects soon.
The robbery occurred between 10am and 10:30am in Uttara, when the petrol pump's money was being taken to a bank.
Several people on three motorcycles rammed the vehicle carrying the cash, forced it to stop, threatened the occupants with sharp weapons and fled with bags containing the money.
Petrol pump manager Karim filed a case against unidentified suspects.
Police said the unusually large amount was being transported because Sunday's deposit included sales proceeds from Friday and Saturday, when banks were closed.
