DHAKA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is set to introduce dedicated bus services for women in Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura, with Shohoz.com providing e-ticketing services across 14 routes.
Shohoz.com and BRTC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce the e-ticketing facility for the women's bus services in the three cities, said a press release here today.
The initiative is expected to make ticketing more convenient for female passengers while reducing waiting time and other hassles associated with purchasing tickets.
The digital ticketing process is also intended to support a more organised and efficient experience for women using the dedicated public transport services.
In the presence of BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla, Shohoz Director Shakil Zowad Rahim, other BRTC directors and senior officials, managers of 10 depots signed agreements recently for operating the services across the 14 routes.
Shakil Zowad Rahim said the initiative is part of the company's efforts to expand the use of digital technology in Bangladesh's public transport system.
He said e-ticketing would make the ticketing experience more convenient and efficient for passengers while contributing to the modernisation of public transport services.
Abdul Latif Molla said introducing digital ticketing in dedicated women's bus services could help reduce waiting times and improve passengers' confidence in the service.
Technology-enabled ticketing could also contribute to more efficient and
data-driven public transport management in the future, he added.
Safety, reliability and convenience remain key considerations for women using
public transport, according to the initiative. The introduction of digital
ticketing is expected to make access to these services easier while
supporting a more passenger-friendly public transport system.
Following the inauguration, passengers using women's bus services across the
14 routes in Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura will gradually be able to access
the new facility.
