DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas, according to the latest weather bulletin of 
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Under its influence, squally winds may affect the sea ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The Met Office advised Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports to keep hoisted local warning signal No. 3.

Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice, the 
release said.

Temporary gusty or squally winds, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may blow at 45-60 kilometres per hour from the south or southeastern direction 
over Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar regions.

River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist warning signal No. 1.

The information was revealed in today's daily report of the National Disaster Response Coordination Centre (NDRCC), the release added.
