DHAKA, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS) - As part of anti-crime drives, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has recovered 63 stolen vehicles and 2,007 mobile phone sets in the city in July
“The DMP’s different police stations and other units following intelligence report conducted various drives across the capital in July and recovered the stolen vehicles and mobile phone sets,” according to a DMP’s media and public relations division statement issued here today.
It said that a total of 50 vehicle theft incidents were reported in the capital during July.
Following the incidents, the DMP carried out coordinated operations and recovered 63 stolen vehicles.
The statement said the recovered vehicles included motorcycles and other motor vehicles. Of the recovered vehicles, 49 were recovered by different police stations while the Detective Branch (DB) recovered 14.
Meanwhile, the DMP’s different units also conducted separate operations to recover mobile phone sets, whose were reported lost or stolen, it said.
A total of 2,007 mobile phone sets were recovered during July and handed over to their rightful owners, the DMP said.
The statement said that the DMP would continue its people-oriented activities, including preventing crime, recovering stolen property and returning lost belongings to citizens.
