DHAKA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) today observed the 50th death anniversary of former Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Khademul Bashar, Bir Uttam, and Squadron Leader Mofizul Haque with due respect and solemnity.

According to an ISPR press release, Air Vice Marshal Khademul Bashar, a valiant freedom fighter, played a courageous role in the Liberation War as the Sector Commander of Sector 6.

The BAF recalled him with deep respect and gratitude for his outstanding contribution to the Liberation War and his significant role in building the Bangladesh Air Force after independence.
The brave pilot was killed in a tragic air crash on September 1, 1976. Squadron Leader Mofizul Haque also died in the same accident, the release said.

Marking the day, doa mahfils were held at the central mosques of all BAF bases and units across the country. Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls.
BAF officers, airmen and other members attended the doa mahfils.

Besides, Fateha was offered at the graves of the deceased at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Uttam A K Khandker, the ISPR added.
