DHAKA, Sept 01, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today set January 11, 2027, for holding a charge-framing hearing in a case filed against Tulip Siddiq, niece of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, over the alleged illegal acquisition of a flat from a private developer in the capital's Gulshan-2 area.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 fixed the date as the High Court has already stayed the trial proceedings for one year following a plea seeking to quash the case.

Former assistant legal adviser of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Sardar Mosharraf Hossain is another accused in the case.

Earlier, on April 8, 2026, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz transferred the case to Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 for further proceedings after receiving a gazette notice summoning the two accused. On March 8, the court had ordered the authorities to publish the gazette notice.

The court also issued arrest warrants against Tulip Siddiq and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain on February 18. Police later submitted a report stating that they had failed to arrest the accused.

Following this, the court fixed March 29 for submission of a progress report.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on April 15, 2025, against Tulip Siddiq, Mosharraf Hossain and his colleague Shah Md Khasruzzaman for allegedly taking a flat from Eastern Housing Limited.

According to the case documents, the accused, in collusion with one another, allegedly abused their authority to take possession of a flat owned by Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan-2 without making any payment and later had it registered in their names.

The ACC submitted the charge sheet against Tulip Siddiq and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain on December 11, 2025.
