DHAKA, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS)- A month-long athletics training camp began today at Tangail district stadium. 

Tangail district additional deputy commissioner (general) Md Oliuzzaman formally inaugurated the training camp, said a press release.

Tangail District Sports Association (DSA) general secretary Mirza Moinul Hossain Lintu, other officials of the DSA and former athletes of the district were also present in the opening ceremony.

Tangail district sports office organised the athletics training under the annual sports program of directorate of sports and ministry of youth and sports. 

A total of seventy five athletes participated in the preliminary selection held on January 1 last and finally thirty five athletes were selected to bring them under the training.

Tangail district athletics coach Anishur Rahman Alo and Biplab Kumar Das are in-charge of training.

Tangail district sports officer Al-Amin, who is in overall charge of this training, said that athletics training equipments have been provided to each district from the Directorate of Sports and Ministry of Youth and Sports.

He informed that for the first time mandatory athletics training has been made compulsory. In continuation of this, training has been arranged by the district sports office to groom the talented athletes from grassroots level in the district. Hopefully, this training would contribute to the talent development of the players.
