Brothers Union register first win in BPL

DHAKA, May 3, 2024 (BSS)-Brothers Union Club finally broke the jinx as they registered their first win in the ABG Bangladesh Premier League football upsetting Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 3-2 goals in a match held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Friday.

In the proceeding, Nigerian born Bangladeshi midfielder Eleta Kingsley, midfielder Mohsin Ahmed and Md Rabby Hossen Rahul scored one goal each for Brothers Union Club who led the first half by 1-0 goals. Brazilian midfielder Higor Leite and Uzbek midfielder Shakhzod Shaymanov netted a lone goal each for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.

Kingsley finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Brothers Union Club in the 45+1st minute while after the breather Higor restored the parity for Sheikh Jamal in the 72nd minute of the match from a spot kick.

Sheikh Jamal took the lead when Shakhzod scored the second goal in the 74th minute.

Mohsin leveled the margin scoring the second goal for Brothers Union Club in the 84th minute while Rabby sealed the victory scoring the third goal for Brothers Union Club in the 89th minute of the match.

The day's win saw the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union Club bag six points from 14 matches while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club remained at their previous credit of 15 points playing the same number of matches.
 
Earlier in the first phase, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club blanked Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals held at Rajshahi District Stadium in Rajshahi.

Meanwhile, three more matches of fourteen round will be held tomorrow (Saturday) where Bangladesh Police Football Club meet old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh at 4 pm, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra face Fortis Football Club at Rajshahi District Stadium in Rajshahi at 4 pm and league leaders Bashundhara Kings take on Abahani Limited, Dhaka at Bashundhara Kings Arena at 5.45 pm.
