Men’s hockey team reaches Jakarta safely

DHAKA, Apr 15, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh national hockey team reached Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, today (Tuesday) safely to take part in the Men’s AHF Cup 10-team event scheduled from April 17 to 27 in Jakarta.

The hockey team, which left Dhaka early today, landed in Jakarta at 10.30 am Bangladesh time, according to a message received here from Bangladesh Hockey Federation.    

Bangladesh are the champions of the last four editions of this tournament. 

Earlier, prior to the team’s departure, head coach Mamun Ur Rashid expressed his determination to defend the title. "As we are the champions of the last four editions of the AHF Cup so target has been automatically set and we want to become champion of the tournament this time as well,” said Mamun while taking to BSS.

The AHF Cup tournament, will serve as the qualification tournament for the Asia Cup. In the tournament, Bangladesh are pitted against hosts Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Kazakhstan in Pool B.
